About the role… 

We are seeking an experienced Lead Retoucher to lead and inspire our team of in-house and freelance retoucher’s in a luxury retail eCommerce studio. This individual will also co-ordinate vendor imagery and external retouch agencies. The ideal candidate will possess a deep technical expertise in post production, ensuring an exceptional standard of high-end eCommerce imagery. The successful candidate will drive efficiencies in processes and workflow’s while championing authenticity and consistency across all projects. They will have a strong post production background and a meticulous eye for detail.  In this role you will coordinate the Harvey Nichols Studio digital file structure and server management ensuring the delivery of visual content meets department KPIs consistently and efficiently.  You will be key for ensuring the team delivers thousands of high quality colour matched cut out product images onto the site every week, in line with upload deadlines.

  • An ability to resolve technical issues and escalate where appropriate.
  • Support the Studio Managers in the delivery of targets and team goals.
  • Supervise outsourced imagery with external clients working to set KPI’s.
  • Ensure all images are signed off by Styling and Photography teams before upload.
  • Perform quality control on all images; identify and action any necessary reshoots and feedback to the team.
  • Be pro-active, able to show initiative and suggest ideas to constantly improve the workflow and quality of the retouch team.
  • Oversee seasonal business projects requiring retouching.
  • Supervise all colour-matching, labelling, data back-up and storage at the studio.
  • Meet and deliver all retouching objectives/ KPIs for your team.
  • Work with Studio Managers to manage retouch team sickness, holiday and ad-hoc business requirements.
  • Work with the Art Direction Manager to carry out annual reviews and identify areas of improvement
  • Provide guidance, advice and training on your area across studio teams.
  • Ensure Harvey Nichols is in line with the competitors the brand identity and authenticity is maintained.

  • Graduate or similar in a Visual Arts related degree, or equivalent, with solid experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience in supervising, mentoring and developing a team.
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and motivate others to achieve within the required timeframe.
  • Authority on retouching techniques and up to date with all industry standards.
  • High technical proficiency in Photoshop, Capture One and networked computers; an ability to trouble shoot
  • Highly organized
  • Ability to work collaboratively and value differing perspectives
  • Team player – build relationships with other internal and external teams
  • Proactive and able to work with stringent deadlines.
  • Excellent work ethic and ability to multi-task.
  • Strong eye for detail and organisational skills and strives for a high level of accuracy.
  • A flexible can do attitude
  • To be reactive to priorities and key deadlines
