As Cleaning Supervisor, you will lead the in-house cleaning team to deliver impeccable standards of cleanliness, presentation, and hygiene across all areas of the store — from our luxury sales floors and fitting rooms to back-of-house offices, corridors, and staff facilities. You will play a key role in maintaining the exceptional environment our clients and colleagues expect, ensuring that every area of the store reflects the quality and attention to detail synonymous with the Harvey Nichols brand.
About the role…
Operational Excellence
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the store cleaning team, ensuring all front- and back-of-house areas are maintained to the highest standards.
- Plan and allocate cleaning duties in line with store trading hours, events, and seasonal requirements.
- Carry out regular inspections of all areas, proactively addressing any cleaning or presentation issues.
- Support with the cleaning of specialist areas such as escalators, glass panels, display zones, and restaurant
- Liaise closely with the Operations and Facilities teams to manage reactive cleaning tasks and larger deep-clean schedules.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all cleaning operations are carried out safely and in compliance with Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
- Maintain accurate records for cleaning materials, risk assessments, and equipment checks.
- Report and follow up on any hazards, incidents, or maintenance issues promptly.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, motivate, and support a team of Cleaners, ensuring high performance and engagement.
- Provide training and ongoing coaching to ensure consistent service standards.
- Prepare and manage staff rotas, ensuring appropriate cover at all times.
- Foster a positive and professional working environment that reflects Harvey Nichols’ values.
Administration & Resource Management
- Manage cleaning supplies and equipment, maintaining appropriate stock levels and ensuring cost efficiency.
- Complete regular audits and reports on cleaning standards and team performance.
- Work collaboratively with store management, contractors, and external partners where required.
Is this you...
- Proven experience in a Cleaning Supervisor or similar role within a large retail, hospitality, or luxury environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a five-star standard of cleanliness.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; able to work collaboratively across departments.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH procedures.
- Flexible, proactive, and hands-on approach to work, including availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and events when required.
