In celebration of National apprenticeship week from 5th to 9th March, we are excited to be launching our Apprenticeship programmes! We caught up with Jiska Rawlins, a Harvey Nichols Apprentice, to give you a sneak peek of what you can expect.
Our Apprenticeships are a great way for self-starters to get professional experience and receive training on the job by talented professionals. Just ask Jiska, an Apprentice Chef, who shares her experiences...
Why did you look for an apprenticeship? I wanted to gain a qualification without having to go to university. Doing an apprenticeship also meant that I could learn a new skill whilst also getting paid.
Why did you choose an apprenticeship in Hospitality? I started working in a small cafe and a chef/kitchen assistant, and decided that I wanted more experience in the industry. I also wanted to try my hand at working in a kitchen.
What does the apprenticeship with HN involve? I get the same benefits that other Harvey Nichols staff get, Tronc, Staff discounts etc.
What is the best thing about being an Apprentice at Harvey Nichols? There’s a friendly atmosphere and the staff genuinely care about your wellbeing.
What are your long term plans? Where would you like to be in 3 years’ time? I’d like to at least be a Chef de Partie by the time I’m 23. Maybe even see where else this qualification can take me other than working in kitchens.
