Harvey Nichols is seeking a talented and driven Assistant Visual Merchandising Manager to support the Visual Merchandising Manager in delivering world‑class visual standards across our Edinburgh store. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a creative team, shape the visual identity of a luxury environment, and contribute to exceptional customer experiences.
About the role...
This role combines creative direction with operational excellence - overseeing daily schedules, driving impactful rotations and projects, and using trend insights and sales data to inform visual decisions. Working alongside the the Visual Merchandising Manager you will:
Manage the daily schedules and performance of the in‑store VM team, ensuring high standards are consistently met and projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Lead and inspire the VM team to create VM displays that are at the pinnacle of Luxury, producing best practices that can be shared with the rest of the regional VM team
Create and manage a monthly VM calendar that incorporates all key information such as, rotation schedule, pop-ups and projects, stock takes, events and any other key information.

Keep up to date on latest trends in VM, as well as other relevant areas in fashion and use these to inspire, suggest new ideas and inform the direction of the instore VM team.
Lead VM rotations as and when requested, across all floors and categories following a structured calendar that is shared and agreed with the Store GM, Sales Managers and Head of Visual Merchandising.
Carry out daily VM standard checks with the shop floor team, ensuring all areas of the floor are well maintained, including highlighting any areas that require maintenance and/or cleaning and following up with the relevant teams.
Working with the Senior Visual Merchandisers, conduct regular VM training with the store team, educating them on all key areas of VM, ensuring they are given all the necessary information and tools to assist you in maintaining the floor.
Leverage key sales data to make informed VM changes, to aid in driving the overall performance of the business and educate the VM team in the importance of figures.
Attend buying floor-walks as and when requested and provide necessary feedback as and when requested.
Create floor plans and layouts for rotations before implementation and adjust and amend following any feedback.
Working alongside the VM Manager, ensure directives from the HO VM team are implemented as soon as possible and executed to the highest standard.
Assist on projects such as pop-ups, in-store events, and any other ad hoc requests, ensuring the highest VM standards are presented and maintained when required.
Keep an accurate record of all VM Tools including props, mannequins and hangers and ensure they are well maintained and replaced when and where needed.
Ensure a safe environment is maintained for customers, staff and suppliers. Ensure all installations meet statutory requirements for H&S/ Risk Assessment standards and that store team is trained on procedures which minimise the risk of injury and damage.

High problem-solving capability
Strong visual merchandising skills and aesthetic sensibility. Creative experience in styling / merchandising of multiple product categories
Flexible with ability to follow direction and receptive to constructive feedback
Ability to adapt to fast pace reactive environment and frequent change of priorities
Team player with exceptional communication skills
Proactive with a flexible and proactive approach to your workload
Keen interest for the fashion industry
Previous experience of Visual Merchandising within retail/ luxury fashion house
Experience in VM planning, co-ordination and execution
Excellent Creative software skills (Adobe Photoshop, InDesign), PowerPoint and Excel
Digital photography skills with good sense of composition
Bachelor’s degree or above in a Creative Visual Design discipline or equivalent
