About the role… 

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the success of our Hybrid Wintel Environment with a focus on VMWare and Azure. This role primarily involves Server Patching, Image Deployment, Wintel, VMWare and Azure workloads, with a split of 60% projects and 40% business-as-usual (BAU) activities. You will also work closely with the Technical Lead to facilitate the transition of workloads to Azure. Therefore, mandatory experience with Azure is required, along with additional skills in Exchange 2019, PowerShell scripting, and SME level knowledge of AD/Domain Controllers/Group Policy. While a MCSA or MCSE qualification is required, a VMware VCP certification would be beneficial but not crucial for the role.

• Manage and maintain the Hybrid Wintel Environment, with a particular focus on Wintel, VMWare and Azure technologies.
• Own and manage server patching activities and ensure compliance with security standards and policies.
• Deploy and manage workstation images across the estate ensuring consistency and efficiency.
• Provide 3rd line operational support for Wintel and VMWare environments, troubleshooting and resolving issues promptly.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, network engineers, and application developers, to deliver successful projects.
• Work closely with the Technical Lead to transition workloads to Azure, ensuring a smooth and efficient migration process.
• Act as a subject matter expert for Wintel and AD/Domain Controllers/Group Policy.
• Provide guidance and support to colleagues and stakeholders regarding technical aspects of the Hybrid WIntel Environment.
• Participate in the planning and execution of infrastructure projects, adhering to established methodologies and best practices.
• Document processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps to maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to WIntel, VMWare, and Azure environments.

• Do you have a technical degree in either engineering or computer science?
• Do you have 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer experience in a Hybrid WIntel Environment with VMware/Azure?
• Do you have previous experience in second- and third-line support functions covering, MCSA, MCSE, VCP5-DCV,VCP6-DCV
• .Do you have complementary MS Certifications, as they would be beneficial, including exposure to Microsoft – Exchange, MS-SQL, AD & Azure.
• VMware VCP certification would be beneficial but not crucial for the role.
