The sub-editor will be responsible for ensuring proper grammar, punctuation and house style across all Harvey Nichols creative content assets and channels including, but not limited to, email,  internal/external marketing content, social-media, store assets and HN editorial stories. The sub-editor may also be responsible for writing and rewriting copy for digital and marketing projects, including seasonal activations and campaigns.

What you will be doing: 

  • Ensuring copy is grammatically correct and adheres to the Harvey Nichols tone of voice and brand guidelines across all families of business
  • Edit copy to make sure there are no spelling or factual mistakes
  • Rewriting/fitting copy onto layouts as needed for all assets
  • Repurposing copy from editorial stories for marketing, online & digital assets
  • Writing headlines, sells, captions and credits
  • Working closely with the Content Writers and Creative Production Manager to ensure deadlines are consistently met in a timely manner
  • Alongside the CCM check all briefs are complete and correct and assets are updated with changes before delivery
  • Working in a fast-paced environment, with stakeholders that includes the wider Creative Content team, Marketing and other departments
  • Liaise with the Campaigns Manager and CCM to ensure all promotional messaging is correct and updated when necessary
  • Prioritising workload and working to tight deadlines


A bit about your experience:

  • Should know their Balenciaga from their Balmain
  • A comprehensive understanding and interest in the luxury industry, encompassing fashion, beauty, food and hospitality
  • Excellent English language and writing skills coupled with faultless grammatical accuracy
  • Well-honed sub-editing skills
  • At least 1 year of experience as a sub-editor
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe InDesign
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop a plus
  • Educated to degree level in English language and/or Journalism
  • Experience with luxury brands and/or fashion magazines
