You will be supporting the Online Food & Beverage Manager and Wine Buyer in managing the day-to-day operations and grow the Company’s overall customer database. You will create engaging content and communication both at store level and via the website. Additionally, you will work across Digital and Press & Marketing departments to push key messages and engage support from wine suppliers for activities and assist the Buyer with all aspects of the buying process.

What you'll be doing: 

  • Together with the Online Food & Beverage Manager and Wine Buyer, create and define the strategy for the proposed in-store wine experience programme and website
  • Research, prepare and present suggested product ranges to both the Online Food & Beverage Manager and Wine Buyer, taking into account sales history, trends, supplier support and product availability
  • Manage on-line sales/margin reporting by tracking sales and compiling feedback reports for each
  • Regularly review each individual market keeping abreast of trends within product area
  • Closely monitor and record competitor’s activity through comparative shopping exercises
  • Demonstrate detailed knowledge of the market through existing and potential brands and build successful relationships with suppliers through regular and effective communication
  • Create interesting and engaging content to promote the in-store customer wine experience programme – product selections, tasting notes, offers, promotions etc
  • Research, prepare and present supplementary editorial features to engage and attract customers
  • Co-ordinate range of products/offers to include web merchandising, pricing and delivery options
  • Manage the processes associated with provision and maintenance of product images either via Supplier, external PR agencies &/or via HN photo-studio to ensure high quality images are available
  • Effectively communicate with the management of the DC to ensure the timely delivery of tasting samples into stores, phasing planned intake in order to meet event/promotional deadlines
  • Initiate and recommend ways of improving sales performance, with the emphasis on visual merchandising, promotional activity, staff training and negotiated supplier support, as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate record keeping – product spec, prices etc
  • Act as the point of contact for store personnel relative to the in-store customer wine experience programme
  • Together with the Line Manager, create and maintain a monthly launch schedule to be shared with the Wine Buyer, Press & Marketing (including Social Media), and store wine experience teams ensuring full alignment across key departments
  • Develop trend research into editorial content recommendations for web stories, emails and social media coverage
  • Together with the Online Food & Beverage Manager, liaise with the web marketing team to plan the support strategy for all brands sold online including emails, twitter and facebook
  • Work closely with the Online Food & Beverage Manager and web team to ensure new brands are launched efficiently and to deadline
  • Assist buyers with supplier meetings and at trade events relative to creating product features on-line
  • Provide assistance to the Online Food & Beverage Manager and Wine Buyer in the general day-to-day operations of the wider food, wine and hampers & gifting on-line offer

  • Creative writing/editing experience – ability to create engaging copy/content to support all aspects customer experience
  • Digital marketing experience
  • Social Media experience
  • Experience of undertaking research into consumer preferences, market trends, product availability
  • Keen commercial eye for detail and an understanding of customer needs
  • Experience of working in a wine related discipline
  • WSET – qualifications or studying towards preferred
