This position will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the network infrastructure across all of the Harvey Nichols estate, as mandated by the Network Lead Engineer.  You'll troubleshoot, administer and implement access points, switches, routers and firewalls where necessary and assist members of the I.T team to ensure that network or security related problems that are affecting users, are triaged.  

We’re looking for someone who has a keen eye for detail and is a team player as this position requires a lot of collaboration with various other members of the I.T team and stakeholders across the business.  

Your aim is to ensure the integrity of high availability network infrastructure to provide maximum performance for your users.

What you will be doing:

  • Reporting to the Network lead.
  • Maximising network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with the network lead on network optimisation.
  • Assist Network Lead in troubleshooting network fault investigations in LAN and the WAN environment across the Harvey Nichols estate.
  • Having a proactive approach to triaging network related faults.
  • Follow Change Management guidelines and processes.
  • Maintaining ownership of assigned requests through to resolution, escalating either internally or externally as appropriate.
  • Necessity to work closely with 3rd party suppliers such as network providers and network security providers.
  • Securing the network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access.
  • Supporting and administering firewalls in line with the I.T security policy.
  • Liaise with service partners and staff members where necessary.
  • Report network operational status by gathering and prioritising information and managing projects.
  • Liaise with service desk, infrastructure team, project manager, EUC, POS and Group CISO on a regular basis.

A bit about your experience:

  • Exposure to firewalls and VPN configuration (Checkpoint, Fortinet, Watchguard or Cisco preferred)
  • Exposure to Meraki switches and Cisco Catalyst switches.
  • Experience working in an environment consisting of an MPLS network.
  • Previous experience in supporting network environments in medium sized businesses.
  • Previous experience of data networking installation, operation and support in a distributed environment
  • Previous experience with Cisco platforms (Meraki, Catalyst)
  • Professional certification desired such as the CCNA.
