Group Health & Safety and Food Hygiene Manager – Chiswick
We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, hands on Health & Safety professional. This senior level role is a group wide role taking ownership of all of Harvey Nichols’ H&S and Food Hygiene legislation. This is across all our departments and sites.
A very hands on role you will work with a wide range of colleagues to deliver a healthy, safe and supportive working environment to all. You will work with your colleagues directly, so some travel is expected but this does mean that no one day is the same!
You will assist the Company to comply with all Health & Safety and Food Hygiene legislation. You will also work with a wide range of colleagues across all departments and sites to deliver a healthy, safe and supportive working environment for all Harvey Nichols staff, concession staff, contractors, freelancers, visitors and customers to any Harvey Nichols’ premises.

What you will be doing
To act as the Lead Officer and Competent Person, for ensuring compliance with all relevant Health & Safety and Food Hygiene legislation across all business activities for Harvey Nichols.
To continue to develop, maintain and improve a comprehensive and innovative Health & Safety Management System to meet business activities and objectives, including drafting any amendments following new legislation.
To ensure a comprehensive and appropriate auditing process is in place to check suitable and adequate safety systems are employed across all business activities.
To liaise with the Company’s Insurers and appointed solicitors on any Employee Liability and Public Liability insurance claims for accidents and incidents.
To ensure appropriate management and monitoring of contractors, sub-contractors, freelancers, merchandisers etc. working on our premises, in order to ensure adequate provision for safe working.
To work closely with our appointed Food Safety Consultants to ensure that all sites are fully compliant with food hygiene legislation and to monitor standards and performance.
To review and update the fire risk assessments for all premises, at least annually, and to monitor the effective implementation of all control measures and actions noted.
To facilitate and support all head office departments when planning and implementing any promotional activities, attendance at external events, creative and visual merchandising and window displays which may require pragmatic Health & Safety solutions.
About your experience:
You have a relevant equivalent experience
You have a professional qualification in health and safety
You have at least 5 years post qualification of working in a similar role (ideally retail or commercial)
You have an expert knowledge of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene legislation and best practice
You are able to work well under pressure and autonomously
You have an high regard for attention to detail
You are a positive and friendly person
You have a can-do attitude
