The role is responsible for preparing statutory financial statements, tax computations, internal audit and managing external relationships with tax advisors and HMRC and to undertake projects.

 What you'll be doing:  

  • To prepare consolidation schedules and liaise with external auditors
  • Preparation of half and year end statutory financial statements for Group entities
  • Preparation of subsidiary statutory accounts and tax computations
  • Preparation of the tax notes for the statutory financial statements
  • Preparation and submission of tax computations and VAT Returns for the Group, including liaising with advisers and HMRC as necessary
  • To complete annual returns for all Group entities, fulfil other ad hoc Company Secretarial duties and liaise with Companies House as necessary
  • Prepare the monthly balance sheet and cash flow position with variance analysis and commentary against budget and forecast to include in the monthly management pack
  • Preparation of the more complex or judgemental balance sheet reconciliations at half and full year
  • Managing the year-end external audit, working with the wider finance team and ensuring agreed deadlines are met
  • Provide periodic internal audit reviews and projects as required
  • Develop and maintain a knowledge of the operations of the business and the activities of other departments within the business
  • To maintain professional knowledge in financial accounting, corporation tax, income tax, VAT and pensions and to communicate to staff and management.  Provide technical training & knowledge sharing to the wider finance department.
  • To plan and organise any other ad hoc projects as required by the Group Accountant or Financial Controller and to ensure that objectives and deadlines are met

 A bit about your experience: 

  • Part or newly Qualified Accountant ACA/ACCA
  • Advanced excel
  • Strong written communication and analytical skills
  • Strong technical ability including IFRS experience and some knowledge of UK tax and VAT
