GROUP DIRECTOR OF FOOD DRINK AND HOSPITALITY

We are now looking for an experienced Hospitality Director who loves all things luxury. The role will be responsible for all aspects of hospitality and food and drink strategy and delivery to ensure achievement or better than budget results each year. It will cover Own Brand and Concessions hospitality, Food and Drink buying teams, Own Label and proprietary brands, all our pouring contracts and NPD. You will help reinforce the brand and ensuring we are at the forefront of hospitality luxury and retail. Through your strong leadership you will motivate, train and develop your direct reports, lead and inspire best-in-class store teams and nurture a performance culture. You will be an ambassador for staff development , encouraging and supporting the progression of people as well as being an ambassador for Harvey Nichols externally. You will also be an active and effective member of the Management Board.

What you will be doing:

  • Develop a strategic approach for the Groups Hospitality business.
  • Research domestic and international trends and explore opportunities to ensure we remain innovative, competitive and ahead of the market in terms of food, wine and dining trends.
  • Own the continual development of concepts, menus, and service propositions to keep Harvey Nichols at the forefront of the consumer’s mind as a hospitality destination.
  • Embrace Harvey Nichols culture, values, brand positioning across all families of business and vision ensuring they are integrated into all hospitality offerings.
  • Develop a strategy for hospitality concessions, identifying and  cultivating relationships with on trend, innovative partner brands that support our brand positioning.
  • Manage existing relationships with Brand partners; reviewing their performance on an on-going basis and ensuring operational standards meet and exceed defined targets.  
  • Support store teams and Marketing to maximise local events that are appropriate, on brand and commercially viable.
  • Develop and own commercial relationships with food and drink brand partners to maximise eventing and pop-up opportunities.
  • Develop and lead the delivery of a Group Corporate Sales strategy to optimise gifting and event revenues and margins.
  • Defining and leading the delivery of the Harvey Nichols hospitality customer service experience.
  • Lead the launch, development and evolution of new and existing services.  Create a clearly defined approach to building relationships with our VIP’s.
  • Blend the strategic with the operational, leading from the front and being hands on in the delivery of the vision.
  • Direct recruitment, training and development of management and staff to minimise labour turnover and to maintain effective succession planning and talent management.
  • Devise and implement methods to ensure and maintain high staff morale, motivation and team spirit, recognising outstanding performance and contribution to team objectives. 
  • Manage all capital budgets and ensure that all capital expenditure is fully planned, and all projects are executed on time and within budget.
  • Influence buying decisions across all areas through discussions with the Food, Wine and Hospitality Managers to maximise sales and margin.
  • Maximise Group purchasing deals across, food, drink, consumables, fixtures & fittings and equipment.
  • Agree and manage pricing strategy across the Group.
  • Agree an event calendar and PR activity with Press & Marketing, for both local and Group initiatives
  • Agree, promote and manage the Group’s hospitality and food and drink sustainability strategy
  • Optimise and leverage purchasing contracts for the whole group.
  • Lead the rationalisation of the Food Market range, developing a fit for purpose own label range supported by proprietary brands that overall supports gifting and hamper range.
  • Lead the NPD program to include the development of a luxe range to optimise gifting outside of hampers.
  • Ensure the continual review of suppliers for HNs own bought range to ensure the highest quality of product, supply chain and price.
  • Lead the annual pouring contract negotiations with Oxo GM, Marketing and Finance to secure most competitive agreements in terms of pricing, activations and marketing monies.
  • Develop and execute a wholesale strategy to deliver significant growth.
  • Ensure compliance across training and activity for: Licencing, Allergens, GDPR, Money Laundering, Hygiene, Health, Fire and Safety, National Living Wage

A bit about your experience:

  • Successfully held a Regional Manager or Hospitality Director role
  • Extensive experience of leading large teams to deliver
  • Proven track record of delivering against growth targets and hitting KPI's
  • Previous experience of developing P&L's, budgets and forecasts
