 You will be responsible for developing and supporting the Harvey Nichols digital estate on the web as part of an agile team, contributing to daily stand-ups, sprint planning and estimations. You will be self-organised and able to make key decisions within your area. Your ability to communicate to people of all levels and technical ability in a positive and friendly manner is key.

What you'll be doing:

  • Developing and demonstrating a broad set of technology skills in Java technologies, micro-service design patterns, Open Source libraries and frameworks, and technology architecture concepts.
  • Ownership of technical designs, code development, and component test execution.
  • Working with the UX and product team on translating user requirements into workable specifications so the team can estimate accurate time scales during the sprint and analysis stage.
  • Have a strong background of QA and related principles.
  • Providing training to users of new systems in terms of CMS capabilities. Ensuring users fully utilize system functionality.
  • Supporting project delivery.
  • Contributing to regular code reviews.
  • Assisting automated testing and improved standards.
  • Managing Fastly and CDN configuration.

A bit about your experience:

  • Expert using JavaScript / TypeScript and libraries such as React/Redux and Next.Js
  • Node.js
  • MongoDB/Redis
  • API design and architecture
  • Deployment pipeline and automated Testing
  • Experience in HTML5, CSS3, Sass, Video
  • Strong knowledge of PHP
  • Understanding of OOP principles and techniques
  • Understanding of web application vulnerability and how to implement secure code
  • Experience working on a LAMP and node stack
  • Good working knowledge of modern VCS systems especially git
  • Desirable - Magento experience

A bit about you:

  • Able to confidently communicate with internal stakeholders at all levels; ability to present is desirable. Must be able to show leadership skills and good team communications.
  • Manage workload between projects and business as usual support tickets. A “No task is above me” attitude is a must.
  • Liaising with third parties internally and externally to discuss integration of the product.
  • Non-technical skills required are being a collaborative team player, can-do attitude, ability to work independently or as part of a team, approachable and pragmatic. 
  • Must have a natural thirst for technology and anything digital, as part of your role is to evolve the company’s digital landscape.
