FRONTEND ENGINEER - CHISWICK, WEST LONDON

Working with the Online and IT departments in contributing and developing the harveynichols.com website which utilises a new React, Redux frontend, Wordpress and Magento. We aim to drive all traffic through the new frontend by 2020.

What you will be doing:

  • You will assist the business in its development of the frontend platform as well as any new ones that are introduced to the company’s web ecosystem
  • You will work with the scrum master on current and future developments, delivered within agreed timescales
  • You will keep abreast of the latest web technologies and developments and continuously help evolve the HN digital landscape in an innovative manor
  • You will work with the UX and product team on translating user requirements into workable tasks
  • You will have a good understanding of the HN multichannel infrastructure in order to make knowledgeable decisions when developing new features
  • You will provide training to business users on any features, ensuring they can utilize the system fully
  • You will be a dependable go to person for all web development tasks. No task is too big or too small  

 

About your experience:

  • You are an expert in HTML5, CSS3, Sass
  • You have extensive experience with responsive web design, ability to advise on best practice
  • You have experience in working with a Javascript frameworks and libraries such as React, Redux, Backbone.js or Angular.
  • You will have an understanding of native Javascript development
  • You have experience using node.js and frontend build tools such as webpack, babel, node-sass, postcss
  • You have an understanding of OOP principles and techniques
  • You have an understanding of XSS attacks and how to safeguard against them
  • You have experience working on a node stack
  • You are comfortable with the command line
  • You have good working knowledge of Git 
  • You have experience working on an ecommerce website
  • You have experience running a serverless application (containerised or on lambda

 A bit about you:

  • You are able to communicate with internal stakeholders confidently at all levels, ability to present is desirable.
  • You must be able to show pride in their work and good team communications 
  • You can manage workload between projects and business as usual support tickets
  • Liaising with third parties internally and externally to discuss integration of new products
  • You are a collaborative team player, can do attitude, ability to work independently or as part of a team, approachable and pragmatic. 
  •  You must have a natural thirst for new technology and anything digital, part of your role is to evolve the company’s digital landscape
