You will manage the financial reporting team on a day to day basis and work closely with the Group Accountant, Commercial finance team and Financial Controller, managing a team of 4-6 people.

What you will be doing:

  • Responsible for all month end deliverables for the financial reporting team, ensure they are met within the defined timeline.
  • Review all postings for the team and ensure all areas are within budget and control accounts have been cleared.
  • Review all team reconciliations on a monthly basis and ensure all feedback points are addressed.  To prepare some reconciliations for sensitive balance sheet accounts.
  • Develop the financial reporting team, ensuring their workload is prioritised and allocated effectively.  Provide support and training to the team where appropriate.
  • To prepare the monthly group balance sheet and cashflow statement and related commentary for the monthly management accounts.
  • To manage the preparation of Corporation tax computations and VAT Returns for the Group for submission to the Group Accountant
  • To manage the year end consolidation workings and first draft of the annual and half-yearly Statutory Accounts for the Broad Gain Group of companies.
  • To manage the year end audit process, liaising with the auditors in respect of year end reporting.
  • To manage the Group’s treasury function including daily monitoring of the Group’s cash position and management of the foreign currency hedge options and debt/overdraft position.
  • To manage the Group’s insurance portfolio including supporting the annual renegotiation of cover, preparing financial information to support claims and liaising with our advisers as necessary.
  • Review monthly Merrett exchange rates before they are updated onto Open Accounts and sent to the business.
  • To maintain the finance system, Open Accounts, and to control and implement upgrades as required satisfying the requirements of the finance department.
  • To work closely with the Finance Manager to develop, document and maintain internal controls within the finance department.
  • Ad-hoc projects as required by the Financial Controller

A bit about your experience:

  • ACCA/CIMA qualified (preferable retail background)
  • Strong PC skills, particularly Excel
  • Specific experience with consolidation, statutory reporting, VAT and corporation tax
