An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Ecommerce Director to join the Management Board at Harvey Nichols. You will be responsible for driving growth and improving overall customer satisfaction for Harvey Nichols Ecommerce business online. As a key marketing channel for the overall business, this position will partner closely with Marketing, Buying and store operations, to ensure the website provided an incredible customer experience.

What you will be doing:


  • Defines global vision and strategy for Site and responsible team delivering, aligned to the company strategy.
  • Partners with leadership team to create and manage the annual P&L for Ecommerce
  • Defines and implements a strategy of continuous reporting and analysis on conversion, engagement, and success metrics and leverage data to inform smarter choices and develop new initiatives for the site


  • Manages multi-unit Ecommerce shopping platform, utilising a variety of internal and external resources to ensure site functionality, optimisation and stability
  • Build strong Ecommerce programmes that will drive business profitability by increasing visitors, improving conversion rates, capturing larger average order sizes and managing margin performance.
  • Brings an informed point of view on day-to-day processes to complement and evolve existing tools, workflow and prioritisation, particularly, expanding the capabilities of existing platform (enhancements, features, upgrades)
  • Evaluates existing KPIs, historical analytics, financial documents, and strategic long range plans to formulate a quantitative operational plan to grow revenue while preserving operating costs
  • Evaluates ongoing tracking, analysis and measurement of customer on-site behaviour and recommends enhancements based on the results / analysis
  • Manages team to develop and own the Ecommerce content plan, including partnering with cross-functional groups and 3rd parties to deliver on customer content expectations
  • Works with the technical teams to develop and evolve mobile first application and capabilities


  • Collaborates with Buying and Marketing in the development and delivery of Ecommerce promotional and marketing strategies
  • Collaborates with internal partners (Buying, Merchandising, Marketing, IT, Store Operations, Distribution) and external vendors, to optimise E-Commerce growth and profitability, including promotional and inventory planning/forecasting to drive customer experience
  • Supports third party marketplace strategy and execution, including data management, program integration, performance and relationships
  • Continuously adapts the Company strategy as required to achieve revenue/profit goals and to ensure an extraordinary customer experience
  • Ensures the E-Commerce unit meets or exceeds weekly/monthly goals including demand, conversion, and goals by creating accountability for results through leading weekly business reviews and identifying optimisation next steps to improve conversion, and site engagement
  • Manage the Online Studio to ensure all images and styling is consistent with Harvey Nichols branding and is complimenting the overall Ecommerce strategy
  • Drives traffic to site through paid search, organic search, direct and display marketing
  • Utilises the Ecommerce experiences to increase traffic in brick and mortar location
  • Owns the development, performance management, and succession planning of the E-Commerce team
  • Creates Executive-level Dashboard recapping site performance and customer feedback
  • Communicates responsibilities and expectations to team while providing clear and timely feedback

A bit about your experience:

  • Achieved an educational level of degree or equivalent
  • Successfully held an Ecommerce Director role, ideally within a digital fashion first business
  • Direct experience of developing and implementing a successful Ecommerce strategy
  • Experience of managing and directing website Technical Structure, Design & Aesthetics, Content, Navigation, Information Architecture, Branding/Marketing, Performance, and Functionality efforts to positively impact Ecommerce efforts
  • The ability to work in a cross functional structure, bringing together cross functional groups of people to achieve results.
  • Experience managing a complex P&L across multiple divisions
  • Experience of managing digital marketing teams and expertise in best practices that result in customer acquisition, retention and growth
  • Extensive experience in multi-channel digital trading, driving change and growth
