We require a talented and motivated DevOps Engineer to work as part of an agile digital development team in building and maintaining large-scale, high-performance, customer-centric digital products in the cloud. You will be responsible for pro-actively supporting the team to develop and maintain modern software engineering techniques and automation technologies as well as maintaining and supporting the architecture of the online platform. You will work alongside our inhouse infrastructure team to unify knowledge and future direction.
Your primary responsibility is to ensure your team continually improve future scalability and security of the platforms to align with the future growth of the business.

What you will be doing:
Instil best practice DevOps techniques such as automation, coding standards, code reviews, continuous integration, monitoring and alerting.
Contribute to the development and implementation of an appropriate software delivery life cycle that supports the business regarding involvement, speed & quality.
Drive the continuous improvement of software delivery within the teams and contribute to best practices across the function.
Reduce technical debt to ensure maintainability and reduce costs of running.
Ensuring that the on-going maintenance and support of the products and systems is of industry leading quality.
Ensure the systems security is maintained and the systems are continuously patched when required. Advise the business of potential security risks and provide outlined solutions.
Provide an environment for significant innovation and improvement.
Work with the project management team on a daily basis on current and future developments, delivered within timescales.
Keep abreast of the latest web technologies and developments and continuously help evolve the HN digital landscape in an innovative manor.
Have a good understanding of the HN multichannel infrastructure in order to make knowledgeable decisions when developing. Ability to think ahead is key.
Have a strong background of QA to insure a solid testing environment is adhered to, including CI, CD, DVCS and release management procedures.
Providing appropriate user documentation where required.
Helping with change-management activities.
Be a dependable go to person for all DevOps tasks. No task is to big or to small.
Assist the business in the vision to move to a DevOps model, which will entail supporting the work the department has produced with-in the current team structure.
To insure the production of the live website is resolved with-in given SLA’s which may include out of hours by coordinating with any support parties internal and external.
About your experience
Wide knowledge of modern web technologies
Strong containerisation experience with ECS & EKS
Extensive Cloud experience in both AWS & Azure
Technically strong enough to be part of design authority for all software development decisions within your team (the what and the how).
Excellent understanding of continuous integration/delivery and test automation.
Excellent understanding of agile concepts and methodologies.
You respond rather than react.
Computer science degree or similar level qualification.
Proven experience of working in teams in the successful delivery of complex, highly performing and high-quality/availability software systems.
Multi browser/platform development.
Proven experience of working with business stakeholders, Product Owners and Business Analysts to analyse requirements, develop ideas and design solutions.
Understanding of non-functional requirements, quality assurance and continued improvement methods.
Keep up to date with the industry and continuously improve areas of technology interest.
