Job Purpose

  • To operate within a section of the Brasserie, Restaurant or Pastry Kitchen with guidance and support from senior chefs, assisting in the preparation of dishes to the highest standard.

Job Objectives

  • Maintain a positive attitude towards staff, customers, and any external contact.
  • Communicate any relevant information presented to you to the appropriate manager
  • Communicate with managers to receive guidance on Mise-En-Place, ordering, cleaning, labels and preparation.
  • Demonstrate interest in food products/dishes asking relevant questions to further knowledge.
  • Participate in functions and special events, working efficiently within a team to meet the standards set by senior chefs and provide excellent customer service.
  • Form a productive relationship with FOH and bar staff, communicating regularly to allow smooth operations.
  • Ensure portion sizes and ingredients used are consistent with costing and instruction from managers.
  • Ensure stock rotation, ordering and Mise-En-Place is conducted efficiently to minimise wastage and maximise profits.
  • Maintain the safe use of equipment, reporting any faulty or damaged equipment to the relevant manager on duty.
  • Ensure health and safety practices are adhered to, as well as food hygiene regulations and security procedures.

 

Qualifications and Experience required

Elementary food hygiene

Minimum 1 year kitchen experience

Good knife skills

Skills and Personal attributes required
