The successful candidate will support the store with till and banking procedures, tax free shopping and general administration tasks within the department. They will also be the first point of contact in our busy Reception on first floor, dealing independently with a large volume of customer and staff enquiries on a daily basis. You will work as part of our Cash Office team based in our Edinburgh store, on St Andrew Square, a short walk from Waverley Station.
The role is full time, working 40 hours a week, including weekends and evenings.
What will you be doing
Handle all point of sale transactions, in line with the company’s set standards and regulations to ensure that all departmental and store systems are adhered to.
To issue floats, takings bags each day for each till in the store, cash advances, petty cash and foreign currency advances.
To count and bank all takings daily, with 100% adherence to the cash office policies to minimise the risk of financial loss.
Reconcile cash office float daily completing safe checks and audits.
Highlight any variances and till discrepancies for investigation.
Efficiently handle customer queries in a confident, courteous and articulate manner
Understand and cascade the rules of Tax Free shopping and confidently carry out the procedure for issuing these refunds in store.
Can diagnose a till problem and either fix it, raise with Cash Office Management or escalate to TI.
Skills and experience you need
Cash handing experience
Experience in either Retail Cash Office or administrative environment is essential
Confident with Microsoft Office
