Assist and deputise for the Buyer in all operations of the Buying function, to drive sales & margin targets for the Beauty category at Harvey Nichols, specifically Beyond Beauty – niche and emerging beauty brands. Support with the management of end-to-end brand management including stores and online. Support with the management of brand launches, joint business plans with suppliers, trade promotional activities, store planning and online acceleration in line with the group strategic goals.
What you'll be doing:
Relationship Management with Suppliers & Internal Teams:
Build & maintain strong relationships with suppliers alongside the Buyer.
Attend supplier meetings to contribute to new launch strategies and support plans to achieve joint business objectives across both instore and online.
Interface with other Head Office departments to ensure Beauty’s success, namely merchandising, marketing, media, online trade & logistics.
Be a point of contact for store teams for buying queries including new launches, promotions, pop-ups and ranging.
Deputise for the Buyer when appropriate.
Maximising Department Sales & Margin Opportunities:
Record, review and analyse weekly sales information and based on this information make recommendations for relevant action to the Buyer.
Prepare accurate sales & contextual information for internal meetings & buying appointments.
Assist the Buyer to negotiate & deliver the best margins, staffing and support plans for brands.
Work alongside the merchandising team, assisting with launch buys and suggesting ways to improve our existing stock position via trade promotions.
Project manage seasonal GWP activations, working closely with marketing, logistics & online to deliver this trade driving initiative.
Work closely with the Online team to support new launches & trade initiatives where required to accelerate our online business.
Support the Buyer to position Harvey Nichols as a leading luxury beauty destination.
Researching & suggesting new brands for the Beauty department at Harvey Nichols.
Assist the Buyer and wider department teams with key strategic projects.
Support with the production of presentations, reports & ideas to develop and improve buying strategies.
Assist the Buyer in maintaining the unique Harvey Nichols identity for beauty across all marketing, trade & content channels. Social Media is a key focus.
Work cross-functionally with teams around the business to ensure that beauty is first to adopt new strategies & routes to success such as Rewards activations, ecomm enhancements etc.
Stores, space planning & densities:
Liaise with in store Department Managers on a weekly basis to ensure familiarity with the ranges, reviewing local trends and adapting as necessary.
Manage store promotional sites, windows, and pop-ups to drive incremental trade and activate key launches or seasonal focuses.
Assist the Buyer with space planning for new brands and run-down plans for brands exiting the department.
Responsible for brand store updates and champions the online acceleration plan with all suppliers including PDP enhancements and other onsite functionalities.
The Assistant Buyer is in regular contact with Buyer. Autonomous decision-making is required in the day to day running of the Beauty category to solve immediate issues or queries with suppliers, stores, and internal teams at Head Office. All major decisions are undertaken in consultation with the Buyer.
A bit about your experience:
Proven success as a Beauty Assistant Buyer or Buying Administrator.
Beauty experience required, preferably within luxury.
Experience with ecommerce preferred.
Experience with press & marketing highly desirable, particularly social media.
