I started off working in Harvey Nichols as a temp. The people were so lovely to work with, I joined full time.
Describe your current role and who you work with
My current role involves putting together the monthly Management Board reporting pack, budgeting, forecasting, ad-hoc analysis to understand business trade and performance as well as providing commercial insight to assist the Board in making strategic decisions. I work with various teams across the business from management teams in stores and head office, to buying & merchandising
What’s the best thing about working at Harvey Nichols?
The people are pretty great. The benefits don’t hurt either…
What’s your favourite part of your role?
Working with a varied group of people across the business, you develop close working relationships with different personalities. Some people you can always rely on to lighten the mood when work gets a bit busy or hectic, and some who give you the required energy boost when you need it. Overall, everyone works very well together as a team.
What gets you up in the mornings?
My to-do list. Crossing things off it can be pretty satisfying. Of course by the end of the day, a lot more has been added to it.
What’s the most exciting thing you’ve ever done in your role?
It’s a fun place to work, so a number of exciting things happen once in a while. Team building days out can be really fun.
Describe a typical day in your role
I start each work day by checking my emails, responding to urgent ones, managing my diary, preparing for any scheduled meetings, resolving ad-hoc queries with the team, working on the pack/forecast/budget depending on the time of month/year, liaising with people across the business. Certain tasks are typical but to be honest, no day is typical at HN. Work priorities evolve and there’s always an ad-hoc piece of work/project which always keeps things interesting.
