I started working at the OXO Tower as a Receptionist in the Brasserie in 2000. I had worked in the hospitality industry for many years but never for a large organisation.

In 2002 I was promoted to Head Receptionist in the Restaurant and learnt to manage a team of twelve staff. I had held a managerial position in the past but not in such a busy Restaurant with high standards where on a daily basis I was presented with new challenges. I learnt a lot and was promoted to Assistant Restaurant Manager in 2005. When I was appointed into this role, I loved the position so much that I decided to prepare myself for the next step in my career.

In 2007, that role became available and I was promoted to Deputy Restaurant Manager.  I thoroughly enjoyed this role and I thrived in the responsibility I had. During these last two positions I have learnt to liaise with other departments within the OXO Tower and thanks to the training and support provided by the Company, I have come to realise that team work and staff satisfaction are crucial to running a successful restaurant.

In September 2010, the role of Restaurant Manager became available and I applied for this prestigious role and was successful. My new challenge in this role was to build upon and strengthened sales for the OXO Tower Restaurant and to ensure that my team shared this vision with me and that we were all working towards the goal of creating raving fans everyday. To achieve this, I knew had to have a strong team with positive attitude and who loved people and were not afraid of hard work. Nine months into the role and the Restaurant is performing at its best ever and I am really enjoying my role. I have been greatly supported by everyone in the business and that is one of the best rewards for me.  

Working at OXO is a great challenge and no two days are the same. It is a continuous learning curve and I find myself being constantly challenged which I enjoy. I never thought that working hard could be so fun.

My career started in Harvey Nichols when I decided to explore a different side to hospitality. I came from a Cafe Management background and this helped me secure a foot in the door with Harvey Nichols. Little did I know that it was a major turning point in my life!

I started at Harvey Nichols as a temporary Receptionist.  This role helped me understand the complexities of a five star hospitality operation.  It was a huge change to running a sandwich bar, but I knew this was the career choice for my future. I fell in love with the Receptionist role, and learnt so much in those first eight weeks. When my temporary contract ended I knew one thing for sure, that I had to get back into Harvey Nichols on a permanent basis.

My chance arose in June 2008.  After spending six months as an Assistant Manager in an Italian restaurant, I knew where my destiny lay. When a permanent role became vacant I re-joined the Harvey Nichols team and was reacquainted with my role as Receptionist. I quickly worked my way up through the ranks to become Senior Receptionist within the fabulous Dublin Store.

Harvey Nichols has given me a new found confidence due to the in-house training sessions I have taken and courses that I have had the opportunity to go on. Given the First Floor Reception is the hub of the Store, I have learned so much about all areas of Harvey Nichols; from the seasonal fashion trends to the must have shoes to the ingredients of the best selling cocktails.

To top it off I also won Harvey of the Year 2011 which still makes me beam every time I think about it!  Harvey Nichols is an amazing place to work and offers me an amazingly fulfilling career. Now I believe it when people say: "If it was meant to be the opportunity won't pass you by!"

I joined the team at OXO Tower in 2002 as a receptionist in the Brasserie. I had just finished university with a degree in Psychology.  I threw myself completely in the deep end working in a fast-paced venue that turned a huge amount of covers every single night. I fell in love with the Brasserie and the team I was working with.  Very quickly I realised that hospitality suited me far more than my initial plan of becoming a Psychologist!

After 6 months working as Receptionist, I was promoted to Head Receptionist and for the first time, I was managing a team of 12 people.  It was very challenging to start with, but with a large amount of support I quickly found my feet and developed a team I was hugely proud of. 

After two years in this role I took on the newly created role of Events Manager, before being promoted again in April 2010, to Events and Sales Manager.  Now I manage the Events and Sales teams for both the OXO Tower and Prism Brasserie, located in the heart of the City of London. 

I love working in a role I have been able to create and shape to make it my own - I absolutely love it!
